The experiment was led by the University of Surrey (UK) in collaboration with researchers in Berkeley Lab’s Nuclear Science Division and Michigan State University’s Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), using the Gamma-Ray Energy Tracking Array (GRETA), currently located at FRIB. GRETA, a $58 million detector designed to reveal the structure of atomic nuclei in unprecedented detail, was led by Berkeley Lab’s Nuclear Science Division and delivered by a collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and FRIB.
