The LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) next-generation dark matter experiment is located nearly a mile below the Earth’s surface at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota. With significant contributions from researchers in Berkeley Lab’s Physics Division, the LZ Collaboration has recently published results that secure LZ’s leadership in the global race to directly detect dark matter.
